The United States is an advanced marketplace where usability and social virality are top considerations. India, on the other hand, is a nascent but exploding marketplace where data-lean and mobile-first are key. China, Japan, and other markets only add to the varied spectrum. Building great global products requires us to understand the nuances between each of these marketplaces, says Piyush Shah. So in addition to knowing our user, we need to really absorb the culture of the marketplace in which they reside - what are the tendencies, preferences, and trends of the society surrounding them?
